Men’s AGM – Friday 14th November at 6.15pm sharp
The Men’s AGM takes place this Friday, November 14th. The start time has been moved forward to 6.15pm to accommodate the Ireland vs Scotland soccer match that takes place at 7.45pm that evening (the match will be on in the bar after the AGM). Please do your best to attend – it’s an important evening for the Men’s Section, and it gives members the opportunity to have their say in the operation of our club. Please see the Men’s Notice Board for further information or contact a member of the committee.
GUI – Handicap Survey
What do your members think of the current handicapping system?
The GUI are offering golfers the opportunity to provide them with their views on the CONGU Unified Handicapping System. This survey is being rolled out across all the Home Unions to gather opinions and views.
The feedback will be presented to the CONGU Board for consideration of any changes and/or developments in the next edition
n of the CONGU UHS Manual.
Closing date for responses is 21 November and all golfers completing the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a fantastic overnight stay at Carton House Hotel with a round of golf for four people included. You can complete the survey on the following link:

Adopt a Green
There are still a number of spots left for volunteers in the “Adopt a Green” scheme. Thank you to those who have already put their names forward. The scheme gives members the opportunity to take ownership of an aspect of course maintenance. Volunteering involves repairing pitchmarks on a particular green and raking the greenside bunkers every time you play. To volunteer, put your name on the “adopt a green” sheet in the bar (near the computer). There will be a prize every month for the most improved green/bunkers.
Paying Next Year’s Subscription
Now is a good time to consider making some down payments on your subscription for next year to avoid having to pay the whole amount in March. You can make payments towards next year’s subscription at any time in the bar using you GUI Card. You can choose how much you’d like to pay and make as many payments as you want – just ask any of the bar staff for details.
Find the Joker
Last week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw were the ‘Campile Early Birds’. The card drawn from envelope no. 49 was the 2 of Diamonds and the jackpot is now well over €4,000. The next draw takes place on Friday November 14th (after the AGM) and there are very few cards left – the jackpot will go soon. Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar. Thank you to all who support this fundraiser.
