This Week’s Competitions

Mon 8th – Fri 12th – Course Closed for Coring (see below)
Sun 14th –  18h Club Singles, sponsored by (some Saturday tee times available)

Course Closure – Coring of Greens

Don’t forget that the annual coring of the greens will take place from Monday 8th September to Friday 12th September, with the course reopening on Saturday 13th September (or earlier depending on progress of the work).  Coring of the greens is essential work in helping to maintain a healthy root zone for the greens – so please bear with us – it won’t be long before the greens are back to their best.

3Ts, PGA Tankard & Munster Mid-Amateur Championships

We had a number of individuals and teams representing the club over the last week with some measure of success.  The 3Ts team, who won the national event last year, put in a good performance in the regional qualifier at Dundrum House, however they did not finish in the top 3 who advance to the National Finals.  Tim Doyle was representing the Men’s section.  Hugh Behan was the men’s representative in the PGA Tankard regional qualifier at Carlow.  Once again, the New Ross team put in a good performance but failed to advance to the national finals.  Finally, well done to Derek Ronan who finished in a very creditable 9th place in high quality field at the Munster Mid-Amateur Championships at Limerick over the weekend.

Leaving Personal Belongings in your car

A member had some personal belongings stolen from their car during the week by opportunist thieves.  Please be extra cautious in relation to leaving any valuables in your car.  Do not leave anything on display and please report any suspicious behaviour to a member of staff

Tee’s Restaurant – 1st Birthday

We wish Padraig Murphy and his team in Tees Restaurant a very happy 1st birthday!  Padraig is running the very first monthly Friday Dinner Night on Friday 12th September to coincide with the occasion.  It promises to be a great night – food  followed by music anc craic.  There are only a limited number of places left and booking is essential – please contact Padraig for bookings and more information on 083 0022290.

Keep an eye out on the Tees Restaurant Facebook page for further details

Paying Next Year’s Subscription

Now is a good time to consider making some down payments on your subscription for next year to avoid having to pay the whole amount in March.  You can make payments towards next year’s subscription at any time in the bar using you GUI Card.  You can choose how much you’d like to pay and make as many payments as you want – just ask any of the bar staff for details.

Golfing Union of Ireland Strategic Review – Survey

The Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) is developing a strategic plan, which will include consideration of its governance structures, the mapping of the future direction of the organisation and the means to get there. Recognising that the strategy will be shaped by the views of those closely involved with the game, the GUI is seeking your input.

Should you wish to be involved in the process, please take 5 minutes to compete the short survey which is available here:

Those who complete the survey will have the option of entering a free draw for one of three golfing packages for two at Carton House, to include golf tuition, overnight stay, breakfast and a game of golf on one of Carton House’s two championship courses.

Find the Joker

Congratulations to Eamon Walsh who was this week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw.  Eamon opened envelope no. 40 to find the 9 of Clubs.  Eamon takes home €30 and the jackpot rolls on to €3,377.  Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar.  Thank you to all who support this fundraiser.
