Entries are now being taken in the Pro Shop for the singles matchplay.  Entries cost €7 and the deadline is Sunday 16th June.  This year, the draw will be divided into sections based on handicap.  This will mean that in the early rounds, entrants will play against opponents in a similar handicap range.  The aim of this is to make the matches more competitive and enjoyable and also to help inform the selection process for teams next year.

The deadline for completion of the first round proper of the Fourball Matchplay is June 18th.  The deadline for the second round of the Foursomes Matchplay is Tuesday June 11th.

The South Leinster Team, managed by Captain’s Prize winner Jim Meggs, secured a fine victory over Borris in their second round match.  Hughie O’Connor and Peter Goggin both won away from home and Pat Whelan won at home to see the team into the third round.

The Brennan Cup lost out by the narrowest of margins in their first round match against Seafield.  With all five matches away from home, it was always going to be tough, but Hugh Behan & Paschal Bolger and Seamus McGuinness & John Byrne gave New Ross a real chance with great wins.  Eamon Dungan & Martin Carroll and Richie Aylward & Kevin Reidy both lost out leaving the match in the balance.  Donal Hosey & John Howlin took the decider all the way to the 19th before unfortunately losing out.

Find the Joker

Last week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw was Grace Carroll who won €30.  The card turned was the 10 of clubs.  The jackpot is now well over the €3,500 mark.  There are only 10 cards left unturned.  Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar.
